We’re pleased to announce that this year’s Pewter Now exhibition will open from Saturday 30th March 2019. The show will take place at Kelham Island Museum and will be open to the public until Thursday 27th June 2019. What’s more, the launch date coincides with another important date in the industry, the conference and annual meeting 2019 of the pewter trade.
The theme for the 2019 exhibition is ‘Past, Present and Future’ and will boast selected historic pieces of craftsmanship from both private and public collections of work. The subject will aim to showcase the innovations and developments in the Pewter industries in recent years. Needless to say, the sector has come forward in leaps and bounds with talented designers.
It’s not merely about times gone by either; the exhibit will also give us a chance to look forward and see what the future may hold for makers and designers.
The British Pewter Craftsmen (ABPC) and European Pewter Union (EPU) will be holding an exclusive conference in Sheffield on this opening weekend, Friday 29th and Saturday 30th March 2019. The event will attract pewter craspeople, designers, manufacturers and buyers. Selected professionals from the industry will be presenting at the conference and there will be a range of interesting events, including the launch of Pewter Now. With our own heritage in pewter, we’re delighted that Richard, one of our Directors at Wentworth Pewter will be one of the speakers.
After the initial ‘Past, Present and Future’ exhibit takes place here in Sheffield, we have big plans for the intriguing event. It is our hope to take the show on tour around the UK so that more people with an interest in design and craftsmanship will have a chance to experience it first-hand. We’re still in the midst of finalising the details of the show and will be releasing subsequent dates for the event soon enough. Keep following us online to find out more about the tour as it happens. Watch this space.
