Joined Wentworth Pewter: 2013 as an apprentice, the youngest member of the team.
Role: Engraving products with business logos or personalised messages for birthdays, Christmas and other special occasions.
The craft: A lot of young people don’t understand what pewter manufacturing involves, they don’t even know what pewter is! It’s very different to an office-based job where you’re sat in front of a computer all day. It’s hands on, practical and I like learning about new machines, for example, we’ve just bought a new, diamond-tipped laser for engraving glass, which I’m learning to use. It can be quite pressured as we get some big orders. Recently I engraved five thousand beakers.
Special projects: I’ve engraved quaichs for the Royal Scotsman train and Jim Beam the whisky company; trophies for a vintage sports car clubs at Silverstone.
The hallmark of Wentworth Pewter: Wentworth Pewter are one of the oldest remaining pewter companies. We combine 21st century design and engraving techniques with traditional craftsmanship.
